The contribution of the private sector is essential to the success of the Paris agreement. Beyond the necessary advocacy for an ambitious agreement in Paris, businesses have the responsibility to adapt their own business model to a 1.5/2°C climate resilient world. Several companies have engaged in climate change action for years, through ambitious Corporate Social Responsibility policies.

More recently, many companies have publicly pledged to take ambitious climate actions. Despite this engagement of the private sector towards global reduction of carbon emissions, the tourism sector remains largely invisible. The tourism private sector involvement for the success of Paris agreement is vital since it is estimated, that tourism’s resource use, including energy, water, land and food will at least double over the coming four decades.
