MANUEL LASCARRO

General Director

Since 2004, I´ve been involved in the sustainable use of concrete as a construction material in Colombia and Latin América. As a Director of PROCEMCO (former ASOCRETO), I lead the co-organization of two concrete sustainability forums in conjunction with the Iberoamerican Federation of Ready Mixed Concrete and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association of the USA.

I´ve been speaker in several forums about sustainability in construction, including the Concrete Sustainability Conference that was held in Dubai (UAE) nov 24-25 2015, the GCCA Conference that was held in Singapore (november 2019) with the topic Concrete and Informality n Construction in Latin America and the webinar hosted by Oneplanet on June 11 2021 about "how the value-chain approach can increase sustainability in the construction sector".

In relation with the impact of informality in construction and their relation with the sustainability goals, I´ve been working about the impact  of informality in construction and sustainability in Latin America.

In addition, I was part of the presentation ceremony of the declaration of intention to implement a worldwide Responsible Sourcing Scheme for Concrete (Medellon 2014) and was part of the roundtables, in representation of the Latin America ready mixed concrete industry, to develop the draft criteria of the model that was finally approved in 2018 after several discussions and consultation with stakeholders around the world.

Since 2018, I´ve leading from Colombia the implementation of the pilot program supported by the Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme of the OnePlanet network to empower small and medium size concrete producers in LatinAmerica  to implement the responsible sourcing scheme for concrete in the region, creating also awareness of the impact in sustainability of the informal concrete production.
