Innovative Greywater Recycling in Hotels
The integration of innovative greywater recycling solutions can lead to savings of 24% of the water consumed per month. This is the case of the Abu Dhabi Premier Inn 300-room hotel at Abu Dhabi International Airpot which is working with Watercan.
Abu Dhabi Premier Inn has engaged with Waterscan, an expert in water treatment, to build the first water recycling system in the area, saving an average of 735,000 litres of water per month or about a quarter of the hotel's monthly water usage. The Waterscan system collects wasted water from bathing and showering throughout the 300 hotel rooms, filters it with an ultra-filtration membrane, and then returns it to the hotel for use in irrigation and flushing toilets. The procedure resulted in the hotel's restrooms using recycled water, with wholescale water consumption reduced by 60 litres per guest.
