Sweden- The sun provides more than just warmth in Jönköping

  • Published on June 26, 2014
The sun is the Earth's biggest heat source but it can also give us electricity. In Jonkoping, we have since 2006 working to install solar cells and solar heat installations and today these are in operation on a dozen municipal facilities. Thanks early involvement the municipality could get a large portion of the solar cell support introduced in 2009, which ensures a strong continued expansion of solar power systems.
In the municipality of Jönköping is one objective to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide from municipal operations with at least 40 percent by 2020 and that intermediate goal of 20 percent by 2012. To reach the goals have a large number of measures adopted in the municipality's Program for Sustainable development - environment. A priority area for action is the transition to renewable and solar energy. Until now, solar power systems have been installed on Grastorp School, Rosenlund School, Rosenlundsbadet, Barnarp School and Flahultsskolan. The Grastorp School was first out with the solar system, this has resulted in a positive partnership with school staff and students then it is used as an educational aids.
