Sustainable Design Exhibition

Organized by the China Lab for Architecture and Urban Studies, a special exhibition titled “Applied research for architecture and cultural heritage – Experience carried out in experimental research laboratories of Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture” was held at the University of Pavia, Italy, to showcase research project results related to sustainable design and development.
China Lab’s long-term goal is to encourage dialogue about the future of design in emerging markets and strengthen collaboration between Chinese and EU researchers on the fields of architectural and landscape design for sustainable tourism. Held on the occasion of the 3rd International Conference Documentation, Conservation and Restoration of the Architectural Heritage and Landscape Protection in October 2016, the exhibition focused on Chinese sustainable architecture and urban space. The exhibition featured ongoing international projects including: (1) “Rural-Urban Interaction and Design Harvest” with Tongji University and Kunming University of Science and Technology; (2) “Climate action addressing the built environment: Design for smart and sustainable neighborhood with the aim to create a bridge of knowledge between U.S.A.-Europe-China” with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and (3) “Re-Urbanization, Re-Use and ReGeneration for suburban China of 2050: a perspective of the Yangtze River Delta Region and Shanghai” with Tongji University.
